On a Raft

This is a commission I just finished. I loved working on it and am very happy with the way it turned out. Everything was done with Photoshop CS6

Let's Go and Imagine.

Another Mermaid

My mom is having me redesign her bathroom so I thought I'd make something simple for the wall.

Belated BFA Show

I never did get around to posting the pieces I did for my BFA Show…  so here they are! They're all made out of paper, glue and spacers, I used a Silhouette to cut the paper out. I had fun working on this project, I love how it turned out but I'm also happy it's over!

I've always wanted to draw a mermaid…. So I did.

Don't let fear determine who you think you are

I made some more art! Eventually I'll have enough that I will be opening up an Etsy story to sell prints. I have a list of different scenes I want to do and am hoping to have them done by the end of the year. Here is this one for now, enjoy!

P.S. If you ever want me to make you a picture or buy a print just message me on Facebook or email me heather.michelle.owens@gmail.com

Just a reminder, This is the first picture that's part of this series

Summer Bugs

Summer Bugs!

I haven't been keeping up on my art lately… I'm going to go ahead and use the motherhood excuse. I did draw these two little guys tho. They aren't much.. but I thought they were cute enough to post. Happy Summer!

Bunny Time

This was for the word Survival but I got a little busy and forgot to post it. Also I had to revise it for the class assignment because it was supposed to be less finished. I prefer this one tho, so I'm posting it instead. And yeah, that bunny is ready to fight you… just so you know.

This is a marshmallow monster. I made him using photoshop by creating shapes and applying textures, gradients, bevels and drop shadows.

Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the kings horses and all the kings men
Couldn't put Humpty together again….

Illustration Friday: Space

I will always remember playing pirate ship as a little girl with my two sisters. I thought it would be a cute idea to incorporate that memory into this illustration. The word this week was space and the assignment was to make it appear like a paper cut (which is one of my favorite looks). I'm very  happy with how it turned out and I think I'll continue to work in this style.

Old Lovers

Here is my attempt to imitate the legendary JC Leyendecker. Happy Early Valentines day! May you all feel loved :)

Happy Valentines Day!

Illustration Friday: Disguise

This assignment was a struggle. We were given a celebrity's name and had to do a caricature of them while incorporating the word of the week. My celebrity was Rainn Wilson (so of course I did Dwight Schrute) and the word was disguise. Having to disguise a caricature is a pretty difficult task. Hopefully this solution is viewed as creative and not me weaseling my way out of doing something complicated :)

Illustration Friday: The Beginning of a Lie

The word assignment for Illustration Friday was 'Beginning'. The assignment in class was to make our illustration look like woodcut or scratchboard. I'm actually really pleased with the way this one turned out. Enjoy!

I.F. Searching for Spring

For Illustration Friday the word was 'Search'. For our assignment we had to do a high key illustration. Which means the darkest dark is about a mid-grey value. It was a challenge but also taught me a lot. Here it is.. enjoy!

Searching for Spring!

Young Owl

This was an Illustration I did for my first assignment in Digital Painting II and Illustration Friday. Jim Madsen is my Professor for this class and I can't tell you how excited I am that I'll be learning from one of the best this semester.
